the painting

painting1I hung it up so I guess – it’s done. I think. I wanted something graphic and not too, something. I was thinking that my whole experience painting is a series of either miserable failures or happy accidents. I rarely, if ever get what I had in my head. I stand by my position that imperfect is art and perfection is photography. This could clearly be based on the fact that I can’t do perfect and I am not a fine artist, or artist really. I like quirky and flawed. This could end up being an interesting time for me. As the only only paintings that I have done that are hanging here have been cut off the canvas and framed. This makes it much more difficult to tweak them. All the rest live somewhere else. A daily pass of this could prove to be a problem. As I will always be tempted to take it down and “fix” it.

I did this today. We hung it and decided we needed another hook. While it was down, I tweaked a few things and thought, and painted a little more and thought. But it’s up. No worries if it’s “not for you” I have a thick skin and an un-rose-colored view of my world and abilities. Or lack thereof. But it’s up so I guess it’s done.

painting2A brief update on my laundry hamper and UPS (I know you’ve been dying to find out what happened) Well, I came home from running on Monday and there was a sticker from UPS on my door. Now keep in mind this is a week after they put the “trace” on and tried to contact the people currently throwing their dirty socks in my hamper. Anyway, the sticker read (and I shit you not) “To Whom it May Concern – a package was delivered here incorrectly (laundry hamper) Please call us so that we can deliver this package to the correct address.” Then it had a number. When I stopped laughing (really who could make this up) oldbathI called them and said, dude, really? It took him a few times of my explaining that this time they got it backwards the other way. So, though Overstock did their own trace and reshipped another at no charge to me over a week ago. I still haven’t seen it. Maybe someone on Salem has this one. Deb? Eunice?

Thanks to all who have commented and emailed me! It’s great hearing from you. To answer your questions…
No Barb, I won’t come redo your home, but golly thanks for asking! LOL.
Yes, I plan on continuing through Xmas. As the bath gut starts this SATURDAY!
Yes, Mark I am crazy. But you know that better then anyone.
And Sue, whatever got me started on this seemed like a good idea at the time.

oldbath3Here is the before of the bath. I hope to post a demolished version on Sunday. I got $1500 of carrera marble burning a hole in my basement. I keep thinking of the demo gone wrong at the old house, that resulted in a broken door and a small fire!
